Hudsult (Bachelor Project)

“The longing for physical contact with other people. It can lead to a depressed state of mind.” This is the description of Hudsult or translated to english, Skin hunger, in the Danish dictionary.

Hudsult is a 70 page, 140x185 mm softcover book. Every other signature is transparent paper and 115g paper.  It contains the short story Hibernation by Kari Eiring, quotes from young people in Europe and black and white photography of skin. The overall theme is skin hunger and living in isolation during the pandemic.

By combinding long and short text, photography of skin as well as transparent and thicker paper, the book aims to reflect the state of mind many felt during the darkest times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Both the overwhelming loneliness and the glimmers of hope as winter turned spring and summer.

In this project I did the concept, photography, editing, layout and book binding.
The book can be found at Motto and She Said bookstore in Berlin.
